Business Management

Dr. Sunita Mall holds a PhD in Statistics from Utkal University, an M.Phil in Statistics from Utkal University, and an M.Sc in Statistics from Utkal University. She completed her Executive Programme in Business Analytics (EPBA) from IIM Calcutta and a Certificate Program in Digital Marketing with Applied Analytics from Fingertips Data Intelligence Solutions.

Dr. Mall specializes in quantitative techniques and data analytics, bringing both academic rigor and industry expertise to her teaching. As Program Director of the executive online program “Digital Strategy and Marketing Analytics,” she teaches across MICA’s MBA, FPM, and online programs, as well as at select IIMs.

Before joining MICA, she has been a consultant to leading insurance companies, banks, and startups, specializing in fraud analytics, credit scoring, and anomaly detection in health insurance. She currently serves as a research consultant for Exemplarie, a startup focused on innovation in analytics.

Dr. Mall’s research examines critical business problems in the insurance and banking sectors – fraud analytics, credit scoring, cross-selling, insurance penetrations, stock market volatility, and neo-banking. Her work has been published in top-tier journals (ABDC-A, B, and C rated), and she has presented at prestigious international conferences including the Conference on Global Economic Analysis (GTAP) and the International Conference on Computer Technology and Development (ICCTD).

Her current research explores psychological contract breach and well-being, education and pedagogy, fraud behavior, and content authenticity. She has conducted faculty development programs on bibliometric analytics and qualitative research using NVIVO, contributing to the broader academic community’s research capabilities.

  • Health Fraud Analytics (Insurance): Detecting fraud patterns and blacklisting tied-up hospitals committing fraud for a Mumbai-based insurer.
