Rasananda Panda holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Analytical and Applied Economics from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and Odisha.

Rasananda began his academic career as a trainee Academic Associate at IIM Ahmedabad (1994 -1997) before moving on to becoming a Lecturer at Som-Lalit Institute of Management Studies (SLIMS), Ahmedabad, Gujarat University (1997-2002); Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at MICA (2002-2007) and Associate Professor at the School of Management, Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar (2007-2011) before returning to MICA in 2011.

In between while serving at PDEU, Rasananda was Chief Economist (on contract) at Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, a Government of Gujarat undertaking, from October 2009 to September 2010.

Rasananda also held the post of Registrar of MICA during the year 2018-20.

A vivid reader and analyst of post-independence political and economic history of India, his current areas of interest are in the field of Macroeconomics, Behavioural Economics, Political Economy of Policy Making in India, and Basic and Applied Econometric Modelling for short-term corporate decision making.

Apart from this, Rasananda also keeps a keen interest in Energy, Environment and Infrastructure Economics, Media, Entertainment, Sports, and Digital Economics. A passionate teacher and highly opinionated economist who traverse various schools of thought in economics at ease, Rasananda has extensively taught at both local and national-level B-schools in India.

He has wide experience in conducting faculty development programs and management development programs, and in company programs on the topics related to facets and future of the Indian economy and business implications. As a researcher, Rasananda has the distinct advantage of studying and evaluating various government policies and programmes pertaining to social and developmental sectors at the federal and state levels with the help of primary and secondary data sources.
